DETOUR: Big Sur still closed, yet breathtaking.

On the latest episode of PhotowalksTV, we visit California’s ultimate Road Trip, Carmel to San Simeon, Highway 1’s coastal route through the ninety, windy miles of beautiful Big Sur.

The quintessential California experience isn’t what it was, due to mudslides that have shuttered Big Sur halfway through the trip, by Lucia, sending motorists on a U-turn detour that sends them all the way back to Salinas. (The road is closed through at least 2025.)

In this video, we go all the way down the coast until the road stops, turn around to Salinas down to Cambria, and turn back up the road to see the rest of the ride until the road closes again and stops us.
