Is San Francisco safe for travel photographers again?

The last time I was in San Francisco with two big cameras, one of them got stolen from me while I was filming. Since then, so many negative headlines have been published about the city, re crime, homeslessness, drug addiction, retail closings and more. But recently, the big APEC conference came to town, and city officials cleaned up the streets, finally.

So I wondered, in the wake of APEC, how is the city now? Is it back to being one of the most beautiful, amazing cities in the world?
