The Central California coast on Highway #1 is considered one of the most epic road trips in the world, a photographic smorgasbord of stunning vistas, dramatic rocks and cliffs, coves, tidepools, ocean scenery, wildlife, a giant 576 foot rock named Morro and some fascinating characters.
PhotowalksTV went off to explore Highway 1 for season IV of the travel series, in search of the best photo spots and how to get them, from Pismo Beach to San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey.
In each location we meet up with photographers, or interested locals who offer their tips on great photo sites. Sit back, and enjoy the ride!
The idea of the show is to re-create the feeling of getting out of the car, exploring, finding the best photo spots, and showing how to get great vacation photos.
The show is at its best when I team up with local photographers, who show us their community through their eyes. On the first episodes of the season, I’m joined by local photographers Amy Joseph in Pismo, Renoda Campbell in SLO and Charlotte “Ginger” DiNunzio in Cayucos.
On the second half of the trip, I say hi to Nigel Paul in Cambria and hang all over Carmel-by-the-sea with Manny Espinoza.
What’s your favorite spot on Highway #1? That’s a tough one to answer, but I tell you what–you tell me yours, and I’ll reply with my take. Just write me: photowalksTV@gmail.com
Sure, we’re based in Los Angeles, but for PhotowalksTV, we get around.
We have explored the west: Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Oregon and Washington, ventured out of the country to Portugal, Japan and Spain, did episodes in 3 of the main Hawaiian islands and naturally, we’ve been all over southern and northern California.
