Day of the Dead on a Palos Verdes Photowalk
October 31, 2020Magical November sunsets —It’s Photowalk season!
November 8, 2020You’ve seen it a zillion times. We’re making a video and talking into the camera as we walk. But since human beings tend to bounce when they stroll, the video takes a bounce too. Meanwhile, there are several new cameras promising amazing image stabilization. Are they good enough to prevent the bounce?
I set out to find out, in a new video comparing how the iPhone 12 Pro, GoPro Hero 9 and DJI Pocket 2 camera handles the “walk and talk” shot. Which of these cameras does a better job smoothing your bounce? I left the answer open-ended in the video below because I’d love for you to take a look and let me know your verdict. I have one though. I think there’s a clear winner.) Let me know what you think, and we’ll compare notes!
- The DJI Pocket 2 is the sequel to the original Pocket. Because it has that miniature three-axis gimbal, it’s designed for smoother video than you would get on a smartphone or action camera. The new version has improved audio, a wider point of view and higher resolution video.
- The GoPro Hero 9 is the latest version of the Hero camera, and sports a larger preview screen than in years past, the ability to shoot in higher resolution 5K video, longer lasting battery and what it says is smoother video.
- The iPhone 12 Pro is one of four new iPhones offered in 2020, with a 6.1 inch screen that is said to be 4x less likely to break, improved low light photography performance and that great iPhone camera that offers image stabilization.
